- Standard polyurethane materials generally have lower maximum temperature resistance than PTFE, FFKM, or specialty high temperature lining materials
- Very high temperature steam exposure may reduce service life unless specialized hydrolysis resistant polyurethane grades are selected
- Outdoor UV exposure may affect polyurethane materials over extended periods unless weather resistant compounds are used
- Improper surface preparation or bonding processes can reduce long-term lining adhesion performance
- Some highly concentrated oxidizing chemicals may exceed the compatibility range of standard polyurethane materials
