Limitations of Polyurethane Sheets for Gaskets, Wear Pads & Custom Parts
- Standard polyurethane materials generally have lower high temperature resistance than FKM, FFKM, Silicone, or PTFE sheet materials
- Long-term steam exposure and high temperature moisture may require hydrolysis resistant polyurethane grades
- Low temperature flexibility may be more limited than Silicone or specialty low temperature elastomers
- Outdoor UV exposure may reduce polyurethane service life unless weather resistant formulations are selected
- Very high speed sliding or abrasive contact systems may require optimized hardness selection and engineered surface finishes
