Viton™ Type GF is a high-fluorine fluorocarbon elastomer developed to provide enhanced resistance to aggressive fuels, oils, and selected base-containing environments compared to standard FKM materials. By modifying polymer chemistry and fluorine content, Viton™ Type GF O-rings, gaskets, and custom molded parts offer broader chemical compatibility than Viton™ Type A and Type B, while maintaining reliable mechanical performance.
Viton™ Type GF O-rings, gaskets, and custom molded parts are commonly specified in applications where exposure to fuel additives, lubricants, and mildly basic fluids exceeds the capability of standard fluorocarbon compounds. While not intended for highly alkaline or amine-rich environments handled by specialty materials such as Viton™ ETP, Type GF provides an important performance step between conventional FKM grades and extreme chemical resistance formulations.

Limitations of Viton™ Type GF
- Viton™ Type GF O-rings, gaskets, and custom molded parts have poor resistance to hot water and superheated steam
- Viton™ Type GF O-rings, gaskets, and custom molded parts are not recommended for strong amines, ketones, or highly polar solvents
- Viton™ Type GF O-rings, gaskets, and custom molded parts are not compatible with ammonia gas or strong inorganic bases
- Viton™ Type GF O-rings, gaskets, and custom molded parts typically have a service temperature range of -15°F to 437°F (-26°C to 225°C), depending on compound and application
