
Viton™ Type F (High Fluorine, Broad Chemical Resistance Fluorocarbon Elastomer)
Viton™ Type F is a high-fluorine fluorocarbon elastomer engineered to deliver significantly enhanced chemical resistance compared to Viton™ Type A and Type B compounds. By increasing fluorine content and modifying polymer composition, Viton™ Type F O-rings, gaskets, and custom molded parts provide improved compatibility with aggressive fuels, solvents, and a wider range of chemical environments.
Viton™ Type F O-rings, gaskets, and custom molded parts are commonly specified in applications where exposure to aromatic hydrocarbons, aggressive fuels, and chemical blends pushes the limits of standard FKM materials. While not intended for the extreme environments handled by specialty compounds such as Viton™ ETP, Type F offers an excellent balance between chemical resistance, mechanical performance, and cost for demanding industrial sealing applications.

Limitations of Viton™ Type F
- Viton™ Type F O-rings, gaskets, and custom molded parts have poor resistance to hot water and superheated steam
- Viton™ Type F O-rings, gaskets, and custom molded parts are not recommended for amines, ketones, or strongly polar solvents
- Viton™ Type F O-rings, gaskets, and custom molded parts are not compatible with ammonia gas or low molecular weight organic acids
- Viton™ Type F O-rings, gaskets, and custom molded parts typically have a service temperature range of 0°F to 437°F (-18°C to 225°C), depending on compound and application
