Viton™ GLT (Low Temperature Fluorocarbon FKM GLT Elastomer)

Viton™ GLT is a specialty fluorocarbon elastomer engineered for applications requiring excellent low-temperature flexibility while maintaining the chemical resistance and high-temperature performance associated with traditional FKM materials. Viton™ GLT O-rings, gaskets, and custom molded parts are specifically formulated to remain flexible and seal effectively in cold environments where standard FKM compounds may harden or lose elasticity.


Viton™ GLT elastomers, O-rings, gaskets, and custom molded parts exhibit outstanding resistance to certain fuels, oils, lubricants, ozone, weathering, and a wide range of chemicals, while extending the usable low-temperature range well below conventional FKM limits. This balance of low-temperature performance and chemical resistance makes Viton™ GLT an excellent choice for demanding sealing applications in automotive, aerospace, oil and gas, and industrial systems exposed to cold start conditions or extreme temperature cycling.

  • Viton™ GLT O-rings, gaskets, and custom molded parts are available in multiple formulations to balance low-temperature performance, chemical resistance, and cost

Limitations of Viton™ GLT

  • Viton™ GLT O-rings, gaskets, and custom molded parts have poor resistance to hot water and superheated steam


  • Viton™ GLT O-rings, gaskets, and custom molded parts are not recommended for amines, ketones, or polar solvents


  • Viton™ GLT O-rings, gaskets, and custom molded parts are not compatible with ammonia gas or low molecular weight organic acids or Oxygenated Automotive Fuels.


  • Viton™ GLT O-rings, gaskets, and custom molded parts typically have a maximum continuous service temperature of ~437°F (225°C), which is lower than some high-fluorine FKM grades
