Limitations of Parker Hannifin Automotive Materials

- Standard FKM compounds may exhibit reduced low temperature flexibility compared to specialized GLT, GFLT, or Silicone materials
- Nitrile materials can degrade when exposed to ozone, UV exposure, or severe weathering environments
- Silicone compounds provide excellent temperature resistance but may have lower tear and abrasion resistance in dynamic sealing systems
- Over-specifying high performance elastomers such as FFKM may significantly increase system cost without improving performance in moderate automotive environments
- Not all compounds are suitable for continuous steam, amines, brake fluids, or aggressive chemical exposure
