Parker Hannifin AFLAS® elastomer materials are designed for sealing applications requiring strong resistance to steam, amines, aggressive oilfield chemicals, bases, and high temperature industrial fluids. AFLAS®, also known as FEPM or Tetrafluoroethylene Propylene rubber, is commonly used in O-rings, gaskets, backup rings, packer seals, valve seals, diaphragms, and custom molded rubber parts operating in severe chemical and oilfield environments. These materials are widely specified in oil and gas systems, chemical processing equipment, steam systems, semiconductor systems, and high temperature industrial sealing applications where standard FKM or NBR compounds may fail.

Limitations of Parker Hannifin AFLAS® Materials
- AFLAS® compounds generally provide limited low temperature flexibility compared to Silicone, EPDM, or specialty low temperature FKM materials
- These materials may have reduced compatibility with aromatic fuels, ketones, and chlorinated hydrocarbons
- FEPM compounds are typically more expensive than standard NBR or EPDM elastomers
- Certain aggressive solvents may cause swelling or degradation depending on compound formulation
- AFLAS® materials may provide lower abrasion resistance than HNBR in severe dynamic applications
- Not all FEPM compounds are optimized for continuous hydrocarbon fuel exposure
