Limitations of Parker Hannifin Silicone Materials
- Silicone compounds generally provide lower tear resistance and abrasion resistance compared to HNBR or FKM materials
- These materials may not perform well in aggressive dynamic applications involving severe wear or extrusion conditions
- Standard Silicone compounds have limited resistance to petroleum fuels, aromatic hydrocarbons, and certain solvents
- Superheated steam exposure may shorten service life depending on temperature and operating conditions
- Silicone materials typically have lower tensile strength compared to many industrial elastomers
- Certain low molecular weight silicone oils may cause swelling in VMQ compounds
