Parker Hannifin NBR (Nitrile Buna-N) Elastomers
Parker Hannifin NBR elastomer materials are designed for industrial sealing applications requiring strong resistance to petroleum oils, fuels, lubricants, and hydraulic fluids. NBR, also known as Nitrile Rubber or Buna-N, is one of the most widely used elastomer materials for O-rings, gaskets, custom molded rubber parts, hydraulic seals, pneumatic seals, diaphragms, and fluid sealing systems. These materials are commonly specified in hydraulic equipment, automotive systems, pumps, valves, fuel systems, pneumatic systems, and general industrial machinery where cost effective and reliable sealing performance is required.
Canyon Components supplies high quality equivalents to many Parker NBR elastomer compounds used throughout industrial sealing systems. Our team supports replacement O-rings, gaskets, hydraulic seals, and custom molded sealing components manufactured from Nitrile compounds for industrial, automotive, and fluid handling applications. We also provide engineering support for material selection, oil compatibility analysis, and sealing system optimization.
Common names include: NBR rubber, Nitrile rubber, Buna-N, Acrylonitrile Butadiene Rubber
Trade names include: Parker®, NBR, Buna-N

Features of Parker Hannifin NBR Materials
- These materials are commonly used in O-rings, gaskets, hydraulic seals, pneumatic seals, diaphragms, and custom molded rubber parts
- Nitrile compounds provide strong mechanical durability and abrasion resistance for industrial sealing systems
- NBR materials are widely used in automotive, hydraulic, fuel handling, and fluid transfer applications
- Specialized compounds are available for low temperature flexibility, fuel resistance, FDA compliance, and low compression set performance
- NBR compounds are commonly used in static and dynamic sealing systems due to their balanced cost and performance characteristics
Limitations of Parker Hannifin NBR Materials
- Standard Nitrile compounds may not perform well in aggressive steam, ketone, ester, or chlorinated solvent environments
- These materials typically have lower high temperature capability than FKM, FFKM, or Silicone compounds
- Certain aggressive biofuels and oxygenated fuels may cause swelling or degradation depending on compound formulation
- NBR compounds may harden and lose flexibility at extremely low temperatures compared to Silicone or Fluorosilicone materials
- Not all Nitrile materials are suitable for prolonged outdoor exposure without protective additives
